I, Robot Movie Summary and Review.

MAIN CHARACTERS:
The main characters in I, Robot were Det.Spooner, Dr.Susan Calvin, Sonny the robot, Dr. Alfred Lanning,V.I.K.I  the monitoring system.

SETTING:
The movie took place in Chicago, America.

TIME FRAME:
 Set in the year 2035.

PREMISE OF THE MOVIE:

What happens in the movie is that the co-founder of US Robotics, Dr.Lanning, is found dead after falling several stories from his office building. Many people think that it was a suicide but homicide detective, Del Spooner thinks that it was a murder. While investigating with Dr.Susan Calvin, Spooner discovers a robot named Sonny, who is specially programmed to not obey the 3 laws. Sonny was the only one to be inside when Lanning supposedly committed suicide. Spooner accused Sonny of murdering Dr.Alfred Lanning.

END RESULT:

In the end it turned out that V.I.K.I had done something to all of the new NS 5 robots and made them violate the three laws. After V.I.K.I had been destroyed by Sonny, Susan and Del, Sonny also told them that the other co-founder of  US Robotics had told him to kill Lanning because that was what he was made for. Earlier in the movie Sonny had described a dream to Del and Susan in which Del was standing at the top of a hill and tons of robots were looking up to him. In the end it turned out that Sonny had seen himself in the dream and the NS 5 robots were looking up at him for guidance.

 I, ROBOT MOVIE QUESTIONS:
1) Who was Del Spooner and what did he do for a living?
Del was a man living with his grandmother while he worked as a homicide detective.
2)What was the outcome of Spooner's early accidents?
In one of Spooner's accidents he had fallen into a lake along with a 12 year old girl, Spooner had to get a robotic arm after that incident.
3)What is the main robots name and who created him?
The main robot's name was Sonny and Dr. Alfred Lanning made him.
4)What does V.I.K.I stand for?
Virtual Interactive Kinetic Intelligence
5)What year does the film take place?
2035

In my opinion I, Robot was an okay movie. I would not have chosen to watch this movie on my own time because it is out of my prefered genre. Some stuff that i did like about it was how realistically they made everything look but at the same time that can be a problem. that is a problem because now we think that can that really happen, as in can robots really assistace in our everyday lives like they showed? My favorite part was when the NS 5 robots were being packed away, how they just all looked up at Sonny in the ending for a sign of guidence. I would rate this film 3.5 stars because it was not one of my favortite movies because of the animation quantity but was okay.

Rodney Brooks says Robots will Invade our Lives

2 things that I found interesting about the video was how the vacuum robot knew where the stage ended and did not fall off even after coming really close to the edge of the stage. Another thing I found to be interesting was the cow like robot because the robot knew how to react to certian commands. The robots name was KISMET.

ASIMO - All New Features 2011

The video ASIMO - All New Features 2011 was about the Honda robot Asimo and all of it's brand new features. I found it interesting because most people think of robots as a futuristic thing but really is something big today.

All about Robots!

10 Different Robots
1) Rescue Robot are robots that assist in aid of rescue workers. There is an advantage to these robots because unlike humans they cannot feel tired.

2)Mobile Bots are automated machines that are able to move around in their environments. You can see them in factory settings and military sites.

3)Domestic Bots are robots that are programmed to do household chores.

4)Military Robots are commonly found being used in our government.

5)Medical Bots help in medical procedures.

6)School Bots are robots that help teachers mainly in Korea to get children motivated about learning.

7)Reading Robots are fairly boring although they can help when it comes to reading bedtime stories to your children.

8)Entertainment Robots can be used as toys all the way to alarm clocks.

9)Space Robots such as the Mars Rover are used for outer space projects.

10)Hobby and Competition Robots can be either used for fun or to use in competitions.

INTRO TO ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

1)Artificial Intelligence is a machine or a robot that is able to do comands that usually need the assistance of a human.

2)  Five Things that use AI
  • Cell Phones
  • Robots
  • Gaming Consoles
  • Computers
  • iPads
3) I think that in 2030 technology will be advance and very abstract and odd if we think about it now because that sort of technology is probably out of our comprehension at the moment. I think that computers now will be drastically changed by then. Maybe they will be thinner or have more features.

Connected, But Alone?

I found the TED video 'Connected, But Alone?' a very interesting video because it shows us that is a negative side to having phones and other social media linked devices. Also something that I found rather interesting was that how this generation has made all electronics such big parts of their own lives. I feel most people don't understand the basic bounderies a person should have between their life in actuallity and their life in the cyber world of there phones. A question that I still have is that even though the presenter, Sherry Turkle is talking about how people of this generation are too involved in their phones, why did she show a recent picture of her daughter and her friends all together but on their phones blocking out the outside world. Also how can she alone prevent people from not going on their electronics, to certain point of view phones have become such a big part of our lives and her saying anything, will that make a difference?

A plane you can drive

WHO: The video is about a private pilot named Anna Deitrich who created a plane that you can drive.

WHAT: A plane that can drive, the wings can easily fold so you can drive donw a highway or a street and efficiently park in your either your driveway or garage

WHERE: Anna and her husband Carl created the aircraft in Massachusetts.

WHEN: The aircraft was first made its public debut in 2008 and flew for the first time in 2009.

WHY: Anna states that she and many other people had a wanted a car that could fly, but instead thought that why not make a plane that can drive.

The video is related to IT8 because it shows how a piece of technolegy can be further more enhanced. Also the aircraft has the same electronic input as a regular car.

What i found interesting was that how innovative the creator was. She dreamt of a flying car but thought outside the box to make a plane that can drive.

Apple Profit Rises 24% on Sales of iPhone 5

Apple Profit Rises 24% on Sales of iPhone 5
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/26/technology/apple-profits-rise-24-on-iphone-5-sales.html?ref=technology
WRITTEN ON: October 25, 2012

WRITTEN BY: Nick Wingfield

WHO: The article is about the iPhone 5 by Apple.

WHAT: The article is about how the Apple profits rise 24% by the sales of the new iPhone 5.

WHERE: The article takes place at the Apple Headquarters in Cupertino, California.

WHEN: The Profits went up 24% with the release of the new iPhone 5
.
WHY: The profits raise because it was a new thing on the market by Apple and who doesn't like a new
phone.

I think my article was very interesting because a lot of people are buying the iPhone 5 and the study simply shows how much people like the iPhone 5 and how changing just the little things can make a difference in selling.
I wonder what would happen if instead of there being a profit increase if there was a 24% profit decrease, would the people at Apple Inc. do something about drastic about it or just wait and watch what happens.
The article relates to IT8 because the iPhone 5 is a piece of technology, hence the name 'Information Technology'. Also because Apple is one of the world's largest electronic producing company.
WHY

Like Apple, Google Now Has Devices That Come in Three Sizes.

WHO: The article is about Google also getting various sized devices just like Apple.
WHY: I think that Google made the Nexus 10 because the company knows that the cheapest iPad starts at $500, but the tablet begins at $400, so maybe people will prefer the Nexus more.
WHAT: The article is about Google also coming out with the exact same sized phones and tablets as Apple but at a much better rate.
WHERE: (San Fransisco) at a news conference.
WHEN:The Nexus 10 was unveiled on Monday October 29, 2012.

I think that my article is interesting because Google has also raised the bar by having similair products with Apple but with a cheaper price. I wonder what would happen if Google profits went higher than Apple's. For example if everyone decided to Google products, what would Apple do?

The article is related to IT8 because Google and Apple are extremely big technolegy based companies. Also another way the article is related to IT8 is that Google is a very popular search engine that we use very commonly is class.

Sixth Sense Technology

WHO-The video was about an Indian inventer named Pranav Mistry.

WHAT-The video is about a man making a device thaty lets you interact between the digital and physical worlds.

WHEN-He made the device in 2000 but chose to actually present the item in 2009.

WHERE-He made the device in India.

WHY- Parnav chose to make the device because he wanted an interactive relationship between the digital and physical worlds.

HOW-You wear the device and then do the gestures accordingly to your own desires.

The video is related to IT8 because the 'Sixth sense Technolegy' is a more complex and out of this world form of technolegy. It most definitely is not something that we see everyday. Another way that it is related is that in IT8 we learn about tools that make our everyday lives easier, and Pranav's creation is capable of that.

A couple of ways that i found it interesting was that you can pull up anythinhg you want on a blank piece or ordinary paper. Also, you can do the same thing on your hand or wrist.

FLY WITH THE JETMAN!

WHO- The video is about a man named Yyves Rossi who had a dream to fly.

WHAT-Yyves Rossi flew over countries using his wings and his body.

WHEN-On May 7, 2012

WHERE-He flew over the Grand Canyon and Swiss Alps and the English Chanel

WHY- He wanted to keep the freedom of being in the air but for longer

HOW-Yyves uses his body to control the wings by using his shoulders and back and legs.

The two ways that the video is related to IT8 are that the wings are a form of technology and devices on the wings such as an altitude checker is an electronic.

Something that i found very interesting was that Yyves flew without any machine like help. he could glide or swoop down by just moving his body a certain way. Another thing was that he went up about 8000 feet to fly down from. I'm getting nervous just yping that but imagine the adrenaline rush Yyves must have felt!
